Alizarin Crimson




Alizarin Crimson was the first natural dye to be synthesised in 1868 derived from the Madder plant. It is a deep red pigment known for its transparency and blueish undertone.
For this work I wanted to elevate the materials I use in the studio to a fine art setting. By plaster casting replicas of each of my paint tubes, I affirm the act of making as an art work.
